The Grace San Andres Quartet

GRACE SAN ANDRES

Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Grace San Andres has loved music for as long as she can remember. At the age of 8, Grace picked up piano lessons as a birthday gift from her mom. However, Grace ultimately had a first love to pursue jazz vocals and went on to study at the Mohawk Applied Music Jazz Diploma program  graduating with her honours.

During her time at Mohawk College she studied with some of Ontario's respected musicians such as Bob Hamper, Mim Adams, Shannon Butcher, and Sophia Perlman. Also directed and guided under the direction of Carol McCartney, Pat Collins, Bob Shields and Darcy Hepner.

Grace has been involved with many different ensembles including; The Polyesther Jazz Quintet, The Fred Butler Septet, The Mohawk College's Tower of Power Ensemble and Mohawk College's Jazz Choir, and Rob & The Rydells.

Currently, Grace is leading her own band called "The Grace San Andres Quartet" which mainly performs Jazz, Pop and Oldies. Fun fact: the band members met while working as music teachers at Woodstock Long & McQuade. In 2018, Grace had a lead on a wedding gig and suggested forming a band with the other teachers – ever since, the quartet has been performing together. In the past years, the Grace San Andres Quartet has been requested to perform locally in the Woodstock area, playing at weddings, festivals, restaurants and private events.
